If You Build It, They Will Come:

The Second Ebenezer Church Grand Opening celebration was highlighted on October 11, 2007 with a visit from acclaimed pastor, author, and producer, Bishop T.D. Jakes. The evening began with a private VIP reception. During the reception, Jakes visited with special guests of Dr. Edgar and Sheila Vann. Governor Jennifer Granholm, who could not stay for the entire event, greeted the VIP guests and offered brief remarks regarding the occasion.

The reception was followed bya a high energy worship celebration which included Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick, who presented the Church with a Five Thousand Dollar gift. Following a dazzling display of talent, and spiritual energy from the Ministry of Music of Second Ebenezer, T.D. Jakes delivered a powerful and uplifting sermon.

Jakes focused on the story of Abraham and Isaac and their ascent to the top of the mountain to sacrifice for the Lord. Jake used as a theme the notion that as followers of the word of God, we may not always know where the Lord is taking us but we should always know that he is guiding us to the right place.
